All of the above require emails; transfers, signups, newsletters, product updates, marketing updates, account verification etc. And because WeTransfer stands for simplicity, creativity, and humane design the last thing we want to do is to overflow users’ inboxes. That’s where you come in.

This is a brand new role and we’re looking for you to help us define it. 

We’re searching for a candidate who is passionate about email, and sees its potential to not only grow and retain users, but to tell amazing WeTransfer-y stories. You are an experienced team leader with an ability to handle volume, multiple stakeholders and various workstreams. You are data-driven and understand how to set up a nimble team that can respond to results in real-time. You will need to have experience partnering with creative departments, copywriters, product marketers, engineers and the executive team.

We need someone with great strategic ability, who understands big-picture company objectives and can build an action plan for how email will help us to accomplish them.

You will report into the head of marketing and will oversee a small team of engineers, designers, strategists and a coordinator. You’ll help develop a vision for how to scale this team to meet the growing ambitions of our business.

Your goal is to manage the inbox of millions around the globe to not only grow our business, but to ensure a delightful experience every time a WeTransfer email is received. You will define and execute both the customer experience and the technology roadmap to deliver on that experience.


  • Develop and implement a high-level email channel strategy that delivers against company OKRs and business goals.
  • Align a cross-functional team of marketers, creatives and developers across a shared vision and roadmap for campaign production and technical implementation.
  • Collaborate with product marketers to develop a nuanced understanding of acquisition, activation and retention goals (per product) and create an email strategy to support each team’s unique ambitions.
  • Support cross-department initiatives that drive product and feature awareness, onboard new customers, upsell and cross-promote current users, communicate limited-time promotions, and highlight events and co-marketing email campaigns (+ various others)
  • Create an overarching, cross-product narrative to be brought to life in inboxes.
  • Oversee the build and maintenance of our CRM database and email automation tool.
  • Create a dynamic, segmentation-based lifecycle program.
  • Develop a system and cadence for comprehensive reporting of email KPIs, helping our growth team build dashboards to track and socialize performance.
  • Develop a content strategy that leverages WePresent editorial to create delight and add value to our user’s overall WeTransfer experience.


  • Experience planning, executing, and measuring effective email nurture programs that map to buyer pain points
  • Strong performance history in generating lead conversions from marketing email
  • 5-8 years of experience in marketing roles, with 3-5 years in email marketing or digital demand generation
  • 3-5 years experience in managing a team, ideally cross-functional
  • Expert-level user of digital toolset including: Sendgrid, Intercom and Google Analytics
  • Command of marketing strategy fundamentals including user segmentation, user journey mapping, competitive positioning, and funnel stages
  • Experience developing and maintaining email software is a significant plus
  • Experience at a SAAS org is a significant plus
